Classic Film Club present Wales on Film Double Bill

Celebrate St David’s Day with our Classic Film Club.

This Wales on Film Double Bill brings together two greats of the Silver Screen – Bette Davis in Hollywood’s take on Emlyn Williams’ The Corn Is Green, and Hayley Mills spellbinding performance in the heartrending Tiger Bay.

Join us for one film or both with complimentary Welsh brew and cakes in between.

2pm The Corn is Green | 1945 | Running Time: 115 minutes
American drama film starring Bette Davis as a schoolteacher determined to bring education to a Welsh coal mining town despite great opposition. It was adapted from the 1938 play of the same name by Emlyn Williams, which originally starred Ethel Barrymore.

4.30pm Tiger Bay | 1959 | Running Time: 105 minutes
Set in Cardiff’s Tiger Bay, the film follows Gillie Jenkins, a tomboyish young girl with a talent for lying. After witnessing the murder of a Polish immigrant woman, she forms an unexpected bond with the sailor responsible, Bronislaus Korchinski
