How the Koala Learnt to Hug

The Tenth Anniversary Tour by Steven Lee

Everyone knows that koalas love a cuddle but, the truth is, that wasn’t always the case. So how
exactly did the koala learn to hug?

Ten years after the publication of Steven Lee’s best selling book, Karen the Koala and her fabulous
furry friends are back to answer that age old question and remind us once again why there’s nothing
quite as wonderful as a nice warm hug.

With a feast of games, giggles and songs, this charming family musical first appeared in 2010 and
has been loved by children and their grown ups ever since.

Now, in this updated Covid Proof
production, the love, laughter and magic returns for a limited season.

As an extra treat, author Steven Lee will be available to sign copies of How The Koala Learnt To Hug
and Other Australian Fairytales which will be on sale after the show.

Perfect for families, for anyone aged 2 – 102!

Ticket Prices:

Yes, really!

We know that times have been tough for everyone recently, so we want to make our events accessible and affordable to the whole community.

For the majority of events at The Welfare, you can now choose to pay the price that works best for you.

Throughout lockdown, we have been trialling a new Pay What You Can pricing model for some of our online events, and now we’re extending it to our live events. This new pricing structure has been a long-term ambition of ours, and amidst the huge disruption caused by the global pandemic, we identified the opportunity to make this change. Our goal now is to reach and re-connect as many people as possible after such a challenging year.

So How Does It Work?

Below, you will find multiple prices to choose from – just select the one that suits your budget best, as easy as that!

To help you with this decision, we have included a recommended price per ticket. This recommended price is what we’d traditionally charge for tickets for this show, and any amount paid over this will help us continue to offer the Pay What You Can model for as long as possible, whilst helping to support our activities with artists, young people and our local community. We know that price is a barrier for some, and this new model is another step along the road to make all of our activities accessible to everyone.

You can also make a donation on the next page if you wish to do so. These donations will enable us to continue putting on fantastic events for the whole community to enjoy.
